Before the call: check four things

  • Light: Face a window or a soft light so your face is visible without a bright light directly behind you.
  • Sound: Find a quiet place and connect headphones if you have them. Check which microphone your device is using.
  • Background: Move private documents, identifying photographs or anything you would not want a stranger to see.
  • Connection: Place your device somewhere stable and pause large downloads if your connection struggles.

You do not need special equipment or a carefully decorated room. Being visible, audible and comfortable is enough.

On HIYAK: understand the next step

The button on this page opens HIYAK Web in the same window. You will reach the login and registration interface first. After signing in, review the people and call options available, any current coin charges and the relevant service rules.

When the calling feature requests camera or microphone access, check the site name before allowing it. If you accidentally deny a permission, you can review that setting in your browser. Your device may also need to allow the browser access to its camera and microphone.

The first minute can be very simple

Start: “Hi, nice to meet you. Can you hear me okay?”

Open: “What have you been enjoying in your free time lately?”

Connect: “That sounds interesting. How did you get into it?”

Say your lines in your own way. Listen to the answer and offer something about yourself. Avoid several personal questions in a row; you are having a conversation, not collecting a profile.

If something feels awkward

A slight delay or a quiet moment is normal on video. Leave a little space before speaking so you do not repeatedly interrupt each other. If you both start at once, simply let the other person finish.

If the topic does not connect, try one different subject. If the conversation still feels forced, it is fine to finish. You can say, “Thanks for chatting. I am going to head off now. Have a good day.”

Afterward, notice what worked

You might remember an interesting answer, a topic that was easy to discuss or a setup change that would improve the sound next time. That is enough to learn from a first call.

If you both enjoyed it, ask whether they would like to talk again and use the options available inside the service. A single conversation does not create an obligation to share private details or remain in contact.
