Check what your camera can reveal

Before joining, look beyond your face. Mail, a badge, a screen notification or a view through a window can reveal more than you intended. Move sensitive items and avoid showing your exact location or regular routine.

Do not share passwords, verification codes, account details or copies of identity documents with someone you have just met. A friendly video conversation is not proof of a person’s identity or intentions.

Understand the limits of privacy

A one-on-one call has two participants, but that format alone does not guarantee anonymity, end-to-end encryption or protection from recording. Another person may be able to capture a screen using other software or a separate device.

Only share material you are comfortable showing. Read the service’s privacy policy and terms of use to understand the information it handles and the rules that apply. Do not assume a marketing word such as “private” answers every privacy question.

Notice pressure early

  • Money requests: Pause if a new contact asks for a transfer, an investment, a loan or financial help tied to urgency.
  • Secrecy: Be cautious if someone asks you to hide the conversation or avoid advice from people you trust.
  • Account access: Never provide a login code or allow a new contact to control your device.
  • Personal content: Do not let someone pressure you into sharing images, revealing information or staying in a call.

You do not need to prove that someone is acting badly before deciding an interaction is uncomfortable.

If a conversation crosses a boundary

Stop sharing information and end your participation. Use the reporting and blocking controls available in the service, or contact HIYAK support if you need help locating them. Avoid confronting someone or sending more information to convince them to stop.

For a threat or immediate danger, contact the relevant local emergency service. If you need to report an incident, retain only the relevant non-explicit account details or messages where it is safe to do so; do not redistribute harmful material.

Review permissions when you finish

Your browser has controls for camera and microphone permissions. You can review or revoke a site’s permission after using it. Closing the calling session and checking the browser’s camera indicator can help you understand when a device is in use.

HIYAK’s community rules prohibit abusive and inappropriate conduct. No online platform can promise zero risk, so personal boundaries and careful use remain part of the experience.
