Choose a setup you can leave alone

A computer gives you room to see the other person while keeping your hands free. A built-in laptop webcam may be enough; a desktop computer may need a separate webcam and microphone. Check what you already have before buying equipment.

Put the screen at a comfortable height and sit far enough back that your face fits naturally in the picture. If you raise a laptop on a stable stand, use a separate keyboard for longer sessions. You should be able to listen without continually adjusting the camera.

Check the three parts of your call

A webcam with a microphone and a separate headset can create several input choices. Give the devices clear names in your own notes, so you know which one you tested. A visible picture alone does not confirm that the microphone works.

Open HIYAK Web and check access

Select Start Video Chatting to open HIYAK Web in this window. Log in or create an account, then check the people, call options and coin costs shown inside the service. The information on this page is preparation, not a live call interface.

If Chrome has blocked camera or microphone access, review Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera or Microphone. Your operating system may also require permission. See Google’s camera and microphone help for current browser instructions. Browser support depends on your device and the current HIYAK Web version.

Make the desk work for a conversation

Set aside documents with names, addresses or account details before you turn on video. A window behind you can leave your face hard to see; turning your chair so the light comes from in front is a simple adjustment. Keep a drink nearby so you do not need to leave mid-sentence.

Choose one subject you would enjoy hearing about. “What have you been making or learning lately?” offers a starting point without turning the call into a formal introduction. You can keep a short reminder beside the screen, but give the person your attention instead of reading a script.

If the setup still gets in the way

Notice whether the problem is the picture, your voice or what you hear. A black camera preview needs different checks from an echo or a frozen picture. Use the matching guide below rather than changing every setting at once.

If the other person cannot hear clearly, say you need a moment to check the sound. End the call before restarting your browser or changing devices, and review any new call cost when reconnecting. Do not keep a paid call running while you troubleshoot away from the conversation.
